Tectonics II, Ltd. is a medium to high-end, design/build custom home building company which has been building in Central Virginia for over 20 years, and has earned its reputation of excellence and outstanding quality beyond what is typically found in today's housing industry. Our base of operation is located near the Wintergreen Resort, where the building company has completed over 200 custom homes ranging in size from 1,600 to 10,000 square feet. Most of the homes are contemporary in style. Steven Crandall says, "Tectonics' homes feature great rooms, high cathedral ceilings, large custom stone fireplaces, lots of custom windows, gourmet kitchens, steam showers and Jacuzzi tubs."
Tectonics will tackle residential renovations (recently completed a $750,000 project) as well as commercial renovation projects.
Additionally in '95, Tectonics became a Lindal Cedar Home dealer. We now provide a wider range of home style possibilities. Lindal (based in Seattle, Washington) produces a high-end, custom post-and-beam built home
Crandall ran a successful firm in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia before joining his father in Nelson County in 1984. A second-generation builder, Steve took over control of Tectonics from his father in 1993. Though Steve studied mining engineering at Virginia Tech, his heart was rooted in the construction industry. "I started out sweeping houses during summer break in high school, and moved to a master carpenter position with companies as far away as Ames, Iowa."
"One of our major strengths in home design and construction is our ability to build homes on difficult sites in extreme environments, while maximizing on the properties' aesthetic potential."
Tectonics owes its success to a group of talented employees and
subcontractors who continually turn out high quality homes and guarantee
satisfied customers. Steve Crandall, owner and
president with his team consist of members who have been working with the
company since the early 1980's. We work closely with our clients to build a
comfortable owner/builder relationship. Steve says, "constant effort is required
by my experienced team to keep the custom home building process running
smoothly". The continual and coordinated attention of these valued employees keeps the building process running smoothly.
