We've set a new standard in the strength, sophistication, and energy efficiency of log homes. Crafted of 4x8 finely finished solid cedar timbers, the walls of Lindal Solid Cedar homes are edged with double tongues and grooves that lock together for an airtight, zero-tolerance fit.

The principle of "thermal mass" also contributes to a level of energy efficiency that rivals frame homes with high R-value; the solid cedar walls store heat during warm weather and time-release it slowly and evenly as temperatures drop.

Kiln-dried cedar contributes to dimensional stability, airtight fit and energy efficiency. Unlike most log homes, no straps, cables, tie rods or bolts are needed to hold ours together. The solid, airtight Energy Lock Wall eliminates the draftiness and settling typical of log homes. The fit is so precise that no caulking is required between timbers.

At intersecting walls, the optimum woodworking joint--the dovetail--is used to prevent movement and slippage. A 2x6 double tongued and grooved plank roof with 5" of solid insulation provides excellent energy efficiency and a high R-value rating.

With whatever Lindal cavity roof system, you can count on excellent ventilation-- thanks to a continuous soffit vent and a ridge vent that runs the entire length of the soffit and ridge. Together, they create a continuous air flow that keeps roof framing and insulation dry, preventing moisture that can cause rot and mold. The roof ventilation system also channels out unwanted heat in summer, contributing to energy savings on air conditioning.
